Performance & Power-Savings

The DI-SR3800-61 utilizes a 64-bit dual-core processor with a Gigabit ASIC chip and FPGA components. Hardware-based processing for various specialized services such as Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and diverse security functionality give this Edge router robust processing and high throughput, while consuming 15% to 20% less power than comparable devices. 

Multi-Protocol Support

The DI-SR5800 integrates multiple services on a single platform, including routing, switching and security. Layer-2 link protocols are supported, including PPPoE and dot1q (IEEE 802.1q), as well as Static & Dynamic Routing Protocols such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, and BEIGRP. 

Robust Expandability

The DI-SR5800 series supports external interface, slots and modules, without overloading the primary CPU resources. Distributed architecture provides every line card with its own ASIC, and adequate internal channels of high-bandwidth to deliver high performance and throughput for the expansion modules. Modularity enables a complete range of connection types such as E1, T1, serial and Async.

Integrated Security

Security features for the DI-SR5800 are extensive, and include ACL, NAT, and a variety of VPNs (IPSec/L2TP/PPTP/GRE). Industry-standard security functions are also supported, including AAA, Radius, and PAP/CHAP, which provide secure network access for enterprise networks.

IPv6 Support and MPLS VPN

The DI-SR5800 supports IPv6 Data Forwarding, IPv6 Routing Protocols, and IPv6 Multicast Routing Protocols. It also supports IPv4/IPv6 Dual-protocol Stacking and IPv6 Translation technology so that an existing IPv4 network can be seamlessly upgraded to IPv6. MPLS Forwarding and MPLS L2/L3 VPN technology enable transparent Ethernet transmission and flexible Enterprise interconnection.
